From time to time I have found that over the years - I need definitive information on what exactly an unidentified device on a computer is. Years ago, I found that the best way to handle this was to boot a Linux LiveCD and run the command 'lspci'. For those not in the know, lspci is basically a command that dumps that data of all the devices currently attached to the PCI bus in the system. It also decodes vendor/device names.
This utility has proven useful for me on many occasions, especially in situations where I am attempting to get Windows installed on a legacy piece of hardware in which the hardware configuration is less than clear.
That having been said, is there a utility that can do this under Windows?
Pciutils-2.1.7.tar.gz 14-Jan-2012 13:45 91K. /dev/pci and odmget) GNU Hurd (direct port access) Windows (direct port access) CYGWIN (direct port access). See More On Stackoverflow; Pciutils Windows Download; Give More. Where devcon comes from, but it's not included on my Win7 laptop.

- The version from subversion's trunk (latest revision while editing is r1416) is usable as well. To checkout and compile the source code you need to install devel/gmake, devel/libpci, devel/subversion and sysutils/dmidecode, either from ports or using 'pkg_add -r'. - You can also install daily builds of flashrom's development source from a special PPA. Please note that these are experimental binaries that may or may not be safe to use. We try to do our best to let dangerous bugs not slip into this, but it may sometimes happen. Usually it is safer to use those than very old (<=0.9.2) stable releases.

- There were some attempts to create a full Windows port of the flashrom utility but none really succeeded and made it into the source code.
